Scope 1 emissions are direct GHG emissions that a company generates from its owned and controlled resources. This includes generation of electricity, manufacture and processing of materials, waste processing, and transportation using the company’s own vehicle fleet.

Scope 2 emissions are the indirect emissions generated from the generation of purchased energy from a utility provider.

Scope 3 emissions are all indirect emissions (not included in Scope 2) that occur in the value chain of a company. These emissions are a consequence of the company’s business activities, including both upstream and downstream emissions.

Transaction refers to carbon footprint analysis based on a specific purchase or transaction. For example, the footprint of buying a product from an ecommerce website.

This refers to measurement, tracking, and analytics surrounding all Environmental Social & Governance drivers, for example water usage, diversity, waste generation.

The partner measures impact based on how many units of a particular resource or material that a company has purchased. For example, it could be gallons of fuel, pounds of fertilizer etc.

The partner provides a service or tool that assists clients to understand and influence employee behavior as it relates to climate action. This could range from an employee-specific tech platform to an employee footprint survey.

The partner prepares reports and metrics to support requirements necessary to share with TCFD, SASB, GRI, CDP, etc.

The partner conducts its services, and provides transparency, audit, and verification that ensures the product, service or output is ready to be independently audited and approved. This is most often relevant for public corporations and reporting — a company standard being ISO-14064.
