New York Climate Week 2024

Co-convened by VCMI and ICVCM and hosted by Patch, this roundtable event on Wednesday, September 25 will bring together government, corporate, and civil society leaders shaping the new era of VCMs to advance high-integrity rules and unlock significant climate finance.

Today, leaders in corporate climate action are engaging in the voluntary carbon market to demonstrate climate ambition outside of their decarbonization efforts and secure high-integrity credits. Tomorrow, a robust carbon credit strategy will be a core part of any credible climate strategy. So what strategies should sustainability leaders be implementing now to get ahead in this new area of climate action?

Under Chatham House Rules, participants will engage in an active learning session to share experiences, ask questions and unpack best-practices together.

Across the world government bodies, standard setters and private sector actors are coming together around ways for companies to engage with carbon credits as a way to accelerate global climate impact. And while there’s consensus around the climate imperative, the ways in which companies participate in the voluntary carbon market is not a one size fits all.

On Thursday, September 26, Patch will bring together corporate leaders and learners for a constructive conversation on how to approach the latest voluntary guidelines, industry best-practices, and government requirements. Seasoned experts will share how they’re translating policy drafts and iterative standards into clear strategies. Under Chatham House Rules, participants in this small group discussion will leave with new insights into how to build sourcing criteria and leverage financing mechanisms to yield the highest value for both corporates and the climate.

On Tuesday, September 24, Patch will host an exclusive site visit with CarbonCure to tour their concrete partner facility. CarbonCure's carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technology offers permanent, verifiable, and scalable carbon reductions for the concrete industry. The retrofit technology is installed in hundreds of concrete plants globally, and the company is continuing to launch new innovative products and technologies.

On Tuesday, September 24, Patch will host an intimate brunch bringing together a range of experts, corporate supporters and journalists with a few key journalists, buyers and suppliers. The setting will serve as an informal way for all participants to share insights and opinions on the global carbon market, ask questions and learn from others in attendance. The event will operate under Chatham House Rules.

As an IETA Member, the Patch team will participate North America Climate Summit (NACS) 2024 throughout the week, hosted by The International Emissions Trading Association (IETA).

Deloitte Sustainability’s Climate Week headquarters will host over 50 sessions exploring the intersection of sustainability, climate and equity. The Patch team will join conversations related to scaling the voluntary carbon market happenign throughout the week.

Goals House brings together world-leading experts, from businesses and policymakers to NGOs and civil society, to find global solutions in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Running parallel to the UN’s Summit of the Future and New York Climate Week, Patch will join climate related programming throughout the week.

On Monday, September 23, Patch will join the CarbonSmart Summit where visionary leaders across carbon markets, project development, and climate investment converge to explore everything from decarbonization and climate tech to sustainable finance and carbon policy.

On Tuesday, September 24, Patch will participate in Puro.earth’s CDR summit, which aims to bring together industry pioneers, experts, and stakeholders in the carbon removal ecosystem.

Patch leadership will join The Hub Live sessions hosted as a part of Climate Group’s main programing.

On Wednesday, September 25, Patch will join the full day of programming on voluntary carbon markets, hosted by ICVCM, VCMI and GCMU. This dynamic event will include insights from those pledging to step up, debates on what’s getting in the way, and agreements on how to make progress quickly.

On Thursday, September 26, Patch leadership will join the SMI’s CEO Summit supporting this group’s work in building a coordinated global effort to enable the private sector to accelerate the achievement of global climate, biodiversity and Sustainable Development Goal targets.
